Kelly, congrats! I'll drop this in the mail to you Tuesday! :)  Enjoy!  Thank you all for posting.  To celebrate all things October, and out of gratitude for the lovely blog candy I just recd. from Linda (see post below), I thought I'd hold a blog draw on October 7th for the book and domino necklace pictured.  In order to qualify, please add a comment.  Hopefully you might even decide to follow my blog and return again.  I'll draw the night of October 7th using a random generator and mail out your goodies upon receipt of your address.  Pass the word and Happy October!  :)

Wheel of the Year: Mabon/Autumnal Equinox

Here's side one of my Mabon page.  Off to all sorts of foreign lands come the weekend.  Must first finish side two before posting.

Liveart Blog Candy! :)

Wow!  I am one lucky Alaska girl. This week I received a packet from Norway of all sorts of art goodies.  The first thing that jumped out of the envelope was a bright orange piece of sequined trim!   Fall goodness - but what followed was simply amazing:  art, backgrounds, an IKEA frame, a tag card, a book on polymer clay, a gorgeous, handmade poly clay necklace, some paint...it made my week!  So I thank you much, Linda!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  And if you haven't checked out Liveart's blog, be sure to do so.

4x4 Friday: Autumn Equinox

4x4 Friday:  Autumn Equinox

Demeter is with us in this week as we transition from summer into fall.  She arrived with pomegranates while reading her story to my students in Mythology yesterday, and played in the winds that gusted 60 yesterday.  These winds will return tonight and last through tomorrow - quite a fitting entry into fall.  Light some candles and enjoy the gift.

4x4 Friday: Skeletons and Skulls

Am feeling a bit Halloween-ish this weekend, so thought I'd try out some new skullies for this week's 4x4 challenge.  Enjoy!

Witches Brew Tag

Yes!  My new stamps arrived from Cherry Pie and they are amazing! :)  Had to make use of the witches without haste.  Good stuff, good stuff.

Bare Branch Trees Journal Page

Today I noticed fall.  I noticed Diana's trees next door - lush and green during summer, there are now hints of orange.  The  day was warm and sunny, but I seemed to be looking through everything with a fall filter.  The dark days and fall storms will return, but I wanted to put this day in my art journal, complete with bare branch trees that hold color, hold sunsets before simply holding themselves upright through winter.  Our autumn goddess is soon on the scene with full September's full moon to usher in the change of season.  Fall is nearly here.

Hunter's Moon

30 Days of Get Your Art On continues!  Here's my journal page for the night, kind of a quickie, really.  I found this fine old sun, aka Hunter's Moon (after some ray removal) on the packaging of some construction paper I opened today for my French class.  Thought he'd make a fine presence on a page.  The little poem on the page reads:
The beacon light shines on the hill,
The will o' wisps the forests fill
With flashes filched from noon;
And witches on their broomsticks spry
Speed here and yonder in the sky,
And lift their strident voices high
Unto the Hunter's Moon.

Here's my art journal page for the day.  Gayla brought up several stamps that she loaned me - each vintage and unique.  They've now taken a stand in my art journal.  Thanks, Gayla!

4x4 Friday: Change to Fall

4x4 Friday:  Change to Fall

Create Journal Page

30 Days of Get Your Art On:  The holiday weekend is giving me a chunk of time and inspiration to work again in the art journal that resides on my bookshelf.  I don't often work in yellow, but today's heavy rain inspired it.  The Zetti stamps helped as well.  The strips of bead images came from a flyer that was included in my recent order from Shipwreck Beads.  You can imagine the joy that comes with opening a box of funky brass bells in all shapes, sizes and sounds.  Another reason for yellow?  I also consider this my "back to school" journal addition.  Rie started kindergarten this week; Bruce has been teaching in his new position across the bridge at Mt. Edgecumbe High School; and I am starting another year at Sitka High.  The Zetti characters here remind me of my new classes of students - all characters themselves filled with ideas, words, personalities and pure charisma.  I hope it will be a most excellent school year.

Traci Bunkers is having a 30 Days of Get Your Art On challenge, so I pulled my art journal off the shelf tonight and played a bit.  The blue/orange strip is from the previous page I finished, but it offsets the crazy magenta/blue/green chaos I've created tonight.  Not sure where I was going with this, but it was fun to end the evening with funky-color, messy fingers!
