Art Creations #51

Art Creations Friday

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving greetings to our friends and family north and south. May hearts and homes be warm today. Our talk has lingered in memories recently - sledding with Mike and April on the Kenai, Chip Lacey securing the last turkey roasting pan at the dusty grocery in Barrow, midnight whip cream fights with fellow teachers during turkey day clean-up and making Sobe top Christmas tree ornaments, flying turkey dinner and fixings out to Gambell and hoping for a entry through the storm, sharing Thanksgiving with good friends in Montesano one year and Yelm another. Not to mention the countless Thanksgivings shared with family. Whatever memories you create today, may they be happy and filled with gratitude. Happy Thanksgiving!

Three Muses: Time

Here's my piece, Time Flies, for this week's Three Muses challenge. My time today is spent at home with Rie who is recuperating from a nasty cold. We're watching the Grinch, listening to music, and enjoying a quiet day - passing time. All images, including my favorite vintage blue gal from Collagevisions. Happy Thanksgiving, friends! :)

Raven Solstice Shrine

The Gothic Arch challenge for the next couple of weeks is to create a shrine. I've done just that in honor of raven and Winter Solstice and all things glittery and full of light. I once lived in the Arctic where there is more darkness than light this time of year and the sun doesn't crest the horizon. I still live in the north, though my little corner of Alaska isn't that far north. However, I walk to school in the dark, return home in the dark, and it really isn't until the weekend that I can truly soak up daylight. So yes, Solstice is celebrated in my home and so are ravens. :) If you can't read the text on the inside of my shrine, it reads, "Child of my dream, like shooting stars, light of my life." And on the other side, "Stars in the magic skies." I've included also the nub of a white chakra candle which is that of unfolding energies. And yes, this is all bundled up in a little Altoids tin. Enjoy the season!

Moondance

Tickets galore at this week's Gothic Arch challenge. I put together this arch and found myself humming Van Morrison's Moondance:

Well, it's a marvelous night for a Moondance

With the stars up above in your eyes

A fantabulous night to make romance

'Neath the cover of October skies

And all the leaves on the trees are falling

To the sound of the breezes that blow

And I'm trying to please to the calling

Of your heart-strings that play soft and low

And all the night's magic seems to whisper and hush

And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush

Magic

I've been playing with this postcard all morning and trying to have it fit the parameters of a few different challenges including the Crackle challenge for Sunday Postcard Art and In the Round for Saturday Surprise. I include a picture of the entire postcard and then Bruce's shots of the crackle using the macro lens. Voila! Weekend art piece that will be in the mail to France next week!
