TMTA: Timepiece

We Measure our Time is my contribution this week to TMTA. My time is now measured - school has officially begun (today) and summer is officially over (last week). Between lesson planning and a quick trip to Seattle Thursday-Wednesday for a dear friend's wedding, I might not get a lot of art posted. Will bring laptop on journey in hopes of WiFi and time to peruse all the lovely work that is posted to your blogs.

Mixed Media Monday: Numbers

I'm a little behind on my Monday contribution, but who's counting? This week's Mixed Media Monday challenge is numbers. I decided to make a window ornament in honor of my little daughter. Rie is 2 1/2, but when you ask her, she's 3. Don't rush it, kid. Collage images from Lisa's Altered Art.

Dans ma maison il y a du orange

An orange house for this week's Dans ma maison which is perfect timing for the bit of fall that is sure to arrive soon.

Creative Therapy: A Collector of Words

This week's Creative Therapy theme is one of collections. The obvious answer for me would be art supplies, but I opted for words. I teach English, I read books, I write rough draft poetry when the mood strikes. Here's my challenge piece.

The Lady of Shalott

One Powerful Hour resulted in a jazzed up piece of cardboard layered with Gesso, watercolor paints, distress crackle paints and a bit of glitter glue. The muse has spoken! Stamped image from Art by Moonlight.

Glitter Goddess

This Thursday, it's all about bling! Bling is the thing, and so I had to break out the jar of magenta hued glitter glass to add some sparkle. Nice way to welcome Friday.

Gothic Arches: Renaissance

Yes, a pretty productive day. School must be starting soon and I'm on stamping marathon. Great theme for Gothic Arches today: Renaissance. I first thought to use some of the rich, darker colors of the period, but opted for something a bit more flashy. Rubber from Inkastamps.

4 x 4 Friday: Statue

Fun theme for 4x4 Friday this week - seems like I posted a statue piece recently for another challenge blog. Oh well. Can't have too many stone beings. This statue is a stone angel from Collagevisions. The background gems and crystals are from Spice It Up. I don't do enough in this shade of purple, one of my favorite colors.

Postcard Art: Brothers Air Mail

Here's my contribution for Sunday's Postcard Art. Image by Collagevisions. Theme is children.

Doorway to Adventure

My doorway to summer adventures closes Tuesday when Bruce and I report back to school. We have one week of teacher in-service followed by the official start of class on August 25th. It has been an artful summer both in Alaska and B.C. I'm not sure I'll be able to keep the same pace with all these fantastic challenges, but that won't keep me from trying.

Spooky

My first Halloween creation of the season...rain and wind is good weather for creating spooky art, even if it's still August! Collage images by Lisa's Altered Art and Gypsy of the North.

Sunday Postcard Art: Portals

A new-to-me challenge, creating postcard art! Stamped image from Art by Moonlight, collage images from Collagevisions.

100th Post Blog Candy!

I posted my 100th post this morning! To celebrate, I have a small packet of art and two stamps from Ma Vinci's to give away. Simply post to this entry by Sunday night, 9:00 Alaska time. I'll have my daughter randomly select a name and these celebratory goodies will be mailed out to you as soon as I receive your mailing address.

Wednesday Stamper: Keyhole

Keyhole is the Wednesday Stamper challenge this week.

Mona's Back!

Still an open theme at Crazy Amigos, which resulted in the creation of another Mona piece. You know, such good behavior and all on part of last week's Mona. At any rate, it gave me a chance to play with my all time favorite Whimsy plate from Time to Stamp and flourishes from Quietfire Design.

TMTA: Dog Days of Summer

Dog Days of Summer is today's TMTA challenge.

Fairy Dust Tag

I've had way too much fun matching colorful fairies from Inkastamps with funky backgrounds. The background on this tag is made of watercolor paints (turquoise, orange, purple). Stamps and fairy by Inkastamps.

Mixed Media Monday: Fashion

Fashion is this week's MM challenge, a theme I'm not altogether comfortable throwing together. Fashion in Southeast Alaska generally equates to a good rain jacket and rubber boots (aka Sitka Slippers). I built the background using Distress Crackle Paints in Fired Brick and Mustard Yellow. Added sequin scrap and topped off the piece with the Diva word stamp by Inkastamps. I pulled the Divas from a magazine, added a light layer of Gesso, and outlined in pen and Caran d'Ache crayons.

Collagevisions

Worked with two more images by Collagevisions this afternoon.

Gothic Arch: Royalty

Here's the Queen of the Fairies for this week's Gothic Arch challenge. She is tall, poised, and ready to rule unruly fairy folk. Collage image from Inkastamps (one of Inka's new fairy designs!). Flower stamped image by Hero Arts.

Wishes Granted

Just for kicks, your wishes are granted. Collage images by Lisa's Altered Art and Gypsy of the North.

TGIF No. 47: Earth Colors

Alaska is alive with fireweed this time of year, so this week's challenge of TGIF Earth Colors is quite appropriate. Collage images by Gypsy of the North and Lisa's Altered Art.

4x4 Friday: Handmade Backgrounds

The 4x4 Friday challenge is Handmade Backgrounds. Mine consists of Carans, lots of Distress Crackle paint, French text, inked rubber and collage images by Lisa's Altered Art and Gypsy of the North.

Theme Thursday: Stone & Statuary

Theme Thursday poses an interesting challenge this week: stone & statuary.

4x4 Friday: Quotes

I'm a bit slow this week in working through my challenges. Quotes was the theme for LAST Friday's 4x4 challenge, so here is my contribution.

Dans ma maison il y a...la mer

The sea is in my house this week for the Dans ma Maison challenge. Actually the sea is within sight of my stamp room, so this was a fun creation. I used a clam shell from a local beach as the setting for my house. Stamped images are from Time to Stamp and Oxford Impressions. Collage image from Vintage Charmings.

Crazy Amigo Challenge: Intuitive Mona

It's a free theme challenge for the next couple of weeks at Crazy Amigo. I've decided to let Mona take the stage this week (and maybe next week, too). We'll see how she behaves. Stamp images by Time to Stamp.

Mixed Media Monday: Trinchies

Celebrate baby is the theme of my trinchie for this week's MMM challenge. I used gobs of paints on this tiny piece including Gesso, watercolor, Distressed; scraps of paper, and old French bank note; stamps by Hero Arts and Inkastamps; a mini star punch; and a lovely collage image by Collagevisions.

TMTA: Turquoise

Turquoise is the color theme today for TMTA. Stamped images from Time to Stamp.

Gothic Arch: Shades of White

Great theme this week at Gothic Arches! Not a lot of planning went into my sample, I simply used what I could find on my desk: paper scraps (including a vintage French bank note); stamps from Memory Box, Inka, and Somerset; and stone angel collage images from Collagevisions.

4X4 Hoot Owl

Here's a 4X4 using the new Hero Arts owl I picked up this month at a scrapbooking store in Terrace, B.C.. My best friend Amy sent my daugther some tiny Folkmanis owl finger puppets and an owl book earlier this summer. This will become my thank you card that will go back to Amy. I have some pretty matching ribbon to go around it once it's ready to mail.
