We Measure our Time is my contribution this week to TMTA. My time is now measured - school has officially begun (today) and summer is officially over (last week). Between lesson planning and a quick trip to Seattle Thursday-Wednesday for a dear friend's wedding, I might not get a lot of art posted. Will bring laptop on journey in hopes of WiFi and time to peruse all the lovely work that is posted to your blogs.

I'm a little behind on my Monday contribution, but who's counting? This week's Mixed Media Monday challenge is numbers. I decided to make a window ornament in honor of my little daughter. Rie is 2 1/2, but when you ask her, she's 3. Don't rush it, kid. Collage images from Lisa's Altered Art.

This week's Creative Therapy theme is one of collections. The obvious answer for me would be art supplies, but I opted for words. I teach English, I read books, I write rough draft poetry when the mood strikes. Here's my challenge piece.

Yes, a pretty productive day. School must be starting soon and I'm on stamping marathon. Great theme for Gothic Arches today: Renaissance. I first thought to use some of the rich, darker colors of the period, but opted for something a bit more flashy. Rubber from Inkastamps.
Fun theme for 4x4 Friday this week - seems like I posted a statue piece recently for another challenge blog. Oh well. Can't have too many stone beings. This statue is a stone angel from Collagevisions. The background gems and crystals are from Spice It Up. I don't do enough in this shade of purple, one of my favorite colors.

There are many tiny stars in my house this week for the dans ma maison challenge. Collage images by Lisa's Altered Art and Gypsy of the North. While on the topic of houses, be sure to stop by Anne's lovely website and put your name in for her September draw.

My doorway to summer adventures closes Tuesday when Bruce and I report back to school. We have one week of teacher in-service followed by the official start of class on August 25th. It has been an artful summer both in Alaska and B.C. I'm not sure I'll be able to keep the same pace with all these fantastic challenges, but that won't keep me from trying.

I posted my 100th post this morning! To celebrate, I have a small packet of art and two stamps from Ma Vinci's to give away. Simply post to this entry by Sunday night, 9:00 Alaska time. I'll have my daughter randomly select a name and these celebratory goodies will be mailed out to you as soon as I receive your mailing address.

Still an open theme at Crazy Amigos, which resulted in the creation of another Mona piece. You know, such good behavior and all on part of last week's Mona. At any rate, it gave me a chance to play with my all time favorite Whimsy plate from Time to Stamp and flourishes from Quietfire Design.

Fashion is this week's MM challenge, a theme I'm not altogether comfortable throwing together. Fashion in Southeast Alaska generally equates to a good rain jacket and rubber boots (aka Sitka Slippers). I built the background using Distress Crackle Paints in Fired Brick and Mustard Yellow. Added sequin scrap and topped off the piece with the Diva word stamp by Inkastamps. I pulled the Divas from a magazine, added a light layer of Gesso, and outlined in pen and Caran d'Ache crayons.

The sea is in my house this week for the Dans ma Maison challenge. Actually the sea is within sight of my stamp room, so this was a fun creation. I used a clam shell from a local beach as the setting for my house. Stamped images are from Time to Stamp and Oxford Impressions. Collage image from Vintage Charmings.

Celebrate baby is the theme of my trinchie for this week's MMM challenge. I used gobs of paints on this tiny piece including Gesso, watercolor, Distressed; scraps of paper, and old French bank note; stamps by Hero Arts and Inkastamps; a mini star punch; and a lovely collage image by Collagevisions.

Great theme this week at Gothic Arches! Not a lot of planning went into my sample, I simply used what I could find on my desk: paper scraps (including a vintage French bank note); stamps from Memory Box, Inka, and Somerset; and stone angel collage images from Collagevisions.

Here's a 4X4 using the new Hero Arts owl I picked up this month at a scrapbooking store in Terrace, B.C.. My best friend Amy sent my daugther some tiny Folkmanis owl finger puppets and an owl book earlier this summer. This will become my thank you card that will go back to Amy. I have some pretty matching ribbon to go around it once it's ready to mail.
