Open Theme & Happy New Year, Friends!

Both Sunday Postcard Art and Mixed Media Monday have open themes of sort. So today I created both an ATC and a postcard that hopefully meet the challenge for both.

My postcard, Spirit Captured, uses collage images from Lisa's Altered Art and Paperwhimsy. Stamped images are from Inkastamps. The fuzzy green fiber material around the border is actually from my Christmas tree, a beautiful yellow cedar. Locally, we call it bearded moss. It's very dry, a unique shade of green, and seemed to work as the perfect border for a mysterious, wooded arch.

Stamps used for the ATC are from Inkastamps, Catslife Press, Inkastamps, and Time to Stamp/I Brake for Stamps. Postoid is from ArtChix and expression from Lisa's Altered Art.
Happy New Year, Friends! :)

Happy New Year

Here's my ATC for Art Creations Friday. I loved working with this background piece - it bridges the sparkly, shiny winter holidays and sets the tone for a brighter year to come. Happy 2009!

Wednesday Stamper: Bows

Last week's Wednesday Stamper challenge was Bows. I put together a couple of samples for this one. The second sample highlights a ringer from Inkastamps and the lovely new Catslife Press birdies from my friend, Kris.

4x4 Golden

The Mixed Media Monday challenge is all things gold. For this I put together a 4x4 using alcohol inks (including gold), gold sequin waste, gold acrylic paint, gold crackle paint, and gold tree ribbon. Lots of shiny in this piece. Collage fairy by Inkastamps.

Between glowing Mother Moon last night and Winter Solstice next weekend, brightness abounds. This week's Sunday Postcard Art challenge is Bright Colors. Here's my creation. Collage fairy by Inkastamps.

Pay It Forward

I got this from Liisa although I was slow to post it.. Anyway, here it goes!

****The Pay It Forward - rules are as follows:

1. All who have a blog or a Flicker album can play this.

2. The first three to sign up (in the comments of this post) will receive a hand-made present from me.

3. The presents will be sent within a year.

4. Those who will receive the presents, must put the PIF-heart and the rules on their blog/Flicker, and get ready for the next sign-ups! They will then in turn send out three presents.
P.S. Be sure to check out Liisa's piece called "Yonder" on her blog. Very Alaskan, very gorgeous!

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Here's my TGIF challenge for the week!

Warm and Cozy

The One Powerful Hour challenge yielded this little card front for the theme Warm and Cozy.

Santa, Santa, Santa

The upcoming Theme Thursday challenge is Santa. I created an ATC and two paint chip tags. The idea for the tags comes from Helga's (the grand dame of ArtChix) blog, My Artistic Life. I ran over to the hardware store after school today to pick up a handful of paint chips for this little project and am pretty happy with the results. Stamps from Time to Stamp/I Brake for Stamps, Hero Arts, Tim Holtz, and Inkastamps. The three collage images are from Collagevisions.

The Crazy Amigo challenge this week is hands. Stamp from Art by Moonlight.

Christmas Music Card

Trying yet another new-to-me challenge this week. The Created Byhand challenge of the week is to create Christmas music cards. Couldn't resist adding a Santa hat (from Collagevisions) to Raven (raven, music and flourish stamps from Quietfire Design).

TMTA: Cloth + Paper

The TMTA challenge this week is to use a bit of cloth in an ATC. I'm again going with Marie Antoinette as part of my swap with Cathy. The ATC in pink/gray/linen actually is the one with the piece of cloth as a background layer.

Art Creations ATC

Another new challenge blog has tickled my fancy this week. Art Creations Friday offers a weekly picture/background for the creating. I printed out the vintage gal of this week's challenge and voila - an ATC.

Mixed Media Monday

I'm working on a Row House swap through Oxford Impressions and as I was putting together my tiny house, I realized this gal has a set of eyes that might just qualify for the MMM (Eyes Have it All) challenge! So here's my oh la la gal, with brooding eyes and some shiny bling. All stamps from Oxford Impressions.

Sunday Postcard Art: Raven

The Sunday Postcard Art challenge is Jokester. I took some liberty with this theme. In Alaska Native cultures and Norse mythology, raven is a trickster image, so I brought out raven for this one. Stamps from Ma Vinci's and Inkastamps.

Assorted Christmas Tags

Here's a variety of Christmas tags I've started for the upcoming holiday season. Can't say I have near as many Solstice/Christmas cards made!

Stamped flourish from Stampington. Quote by Dickens reads, "Nature gives of its own to every time and season some beauties."
